There is a light that will never go out...
It is with deepest regret that we announce the following death:
LESLEY STEWART
Lesley Stewart died on 12 February 2009 aged 91 years. He was a valued member of St Vincent’s (Men’s) Conference, Altrincham for some forty years. During this time, he served the Society in many capacities and was still actively engaged until he became immobile two years ago.
He was a man of many interests – art, travel, languages – he spoke several including Russian and was learning Scots Gaelic in his late eighties. Above all, he was interested in people and had a great capacity for remembering details of their lives and families. This endeared him to those he visited as a Vincentian and more widely in the Parish and beyond. It was not a superficial interest. He was genuinely concerned as was clear in his SVP visits and his annual overland trips to Lourdes tending the sick on the Diocesan pilgrimages.
Even in his old age, he was always the first to volunteer for any task that arose. A true Vincentian, he will be sadly missed, as was clear from the large crowd at his Requiem Mass.
