Providing a range of services from debt free advice and general counselling to training in basic literacy, numeracy and information technology.
“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.”
Drop-in support centres enable the SVP to reach into the heart of the communities where services are most needed and to provide hospitality to all. SVP support centres in Leeds, Bradford and Newcastle provide the socially excluded with services dedicated to their needs. The centres provide a range of services based upon the needs of the local area. Some of the current services include debt advice, volunteering opportunities, IT training, basic numeracy and literacy classes, emergency food parcels, information & advice.
In 2011/2012, more than 5,000 users benefited from the centres.
- A total of 45 volunteers gave an average of 360 hours each week to ensure a high-quality service at the Support Centres
