As part of the SVP's response to the refugee crises, a prayer has been issued as part of a coordinated response during the Catholic Church's Year of Mercy.
SVP members signed a petition in support of an All Party Parliamentary Group on Refugee's recommendations, which was presented to Parliament on International Human Rights Day on 10th December. Prayer vigils are being organised across the country to coincide with the Catholic World Day of Migrants and Refugees on January 17th.
You can find the Prayer for Refugees below.
"Almighty and merciful God, whose son became a refugee and had no place to call his own; look with
mercy on those who today are fleeing from danger, homeless and hungry.
Bless those who work to bring them relief; inspire generosity and compassion in all our hearts and guide
the nations of the world towards that day when all will rejoice in your kingdom of justice and peace.
We make our prayer through Christ our Lord, Amen"
(prayer written by Rt Rev Trevor Willmott, Bishop of Dover.)
