St Vincent de Paul Society – England & Wales (SVP) Text Giving – Terms & Conditions  

 

Thank you for supporting and communicating with SVP by SMS (text). All the donations received via text help the SVP support more people in need. 

Find out more about how much funding we receive from your texts, as well as how your phone number is used below. 

 

Permissions  

All supporters must obtain permission from the bill payer before sending a text message. You must be 16 years old or over to send a text donation. If you are under 16 years old, you must have your parent or guardian’s permission before signing up or donating to SVP through SMS.

Data Protection  

Data obtained from you via SMS service may include your mobile number, your carrier’s name and the date, the time and other information that you may provide. 

 

Your data will be handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and will only be used to keep you informed about our fundraising, activities, events and services. We will not share your information with any third party organisations except where such transfer is a necessary part of our activities, or we are required to do so by operation of law. How much of my donation reaches SVP? 

By using the service, you are donating £5 of which the SVP receive 100% of your donation, texts cost £5 plus your standard network rate. 

 

Gift Aid  

We may contact you via the mobile number you provided to offer you the option of adding Gift Aid to your donation. 

If we send you a link to a page where you can enter your information, you may incur charges from your network operator, as with any mobile browsing. If we ask you to SMS such details, you will be charged a regular network message fee (depending on your service provider's rates). 

 

Donation Limits 

There’s no limit on the number of times you may make a donation via text but there is a daily limit of £40 on text donations. You will not be able to donate more by text from the same number on the same day, but you may still incur your standard network message charge if you try. 

 

International Texts  

Please note that you can donate from a UK mobile only. You cannot donate using this service from a Channel Islands, Isle of Man or other non-UK mobile. 

If you donate using this service from a UK mobile outside England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, you may incur additional network charges. 

 

Text Updates 

We want you to see how your donations are helping, so we’ll sometimes send you links to photos and videos on our website or information about our work. You can view this content on an internet-enabled phone or computer. We won’t charge you for content but, as with any mobile browsing, viewing could mean you incur charges from your network provider. 

 

Stopping your donation 

If you’d like to stop your gift at any point, please text STOP to the five digit shortcode that you receive your monthly messages from. You’ll be charged one standard rate text message. By texting STOP this means you will no longer receive any future monthly SMS from SVP. 

 

Third Parties  

This SMS service is provided for the SVP by third party providers, including Cymba. 

 

The SVP does not accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure, malfunction, congestion, capacity issues or any other problem with any telephone, telephone network or line, system, server, provider or otherwise which may result in any text being lost, delayed or not properly received and recorded.  Delivery is subject to transmission from your network operator and processing by your mobile phone device.
