Absolutely everybody has been affected in some way by last year's shock lockdown restrictions, but here at St Vincent's it gave us opportunity to adapt and face any challenges that may have come to endanger our normal operations. Our fundraising efforts were no exception to this as the majority of our events were cancelled, postponed, or made online and virtual. Our sponsored walk - ordinarily a social affair in which our supporters come together for an organised stroll - was no exception.
September's Sponsored Walk takes place on the feast of St Vincent de Paul annually, but in order to keep our strollers and supporters safe, we decided to make the move to virtual, with walkers collating their miles whenever suited them best. We're delighted to announce that due to the committment of our supporters and sponsors, we managed to raise an incredible £5577.78!
This April, to commemorate the birth of Saint Vincent de Paul founder Blessed Frederic Ozanam, we're taking our sponsored walk online once again. On or around the weekend beginning the 23rd, get your walking boots on, your raincoat ready and sponsor forms filled - this mean's you can choose the route, the pace and the distance!
We can't wait to create a social event out of our sponsored walks once more - as it really puts the 'fun' in fundraising - but this year it's important we stick to government guidelines and stay safe. We ask that if you're walking in a pair or group that you stick to your own household or ensure your socialising is in line with the latest in the road-map updates and government guidance.
We're so excited to join you virtually for this challenge, while we can't be there in person, we'll still be on the side-lines cheering you on.
Let's hope for sunshine!
