Safeguarding arrangements at Heworth Metro:*Unfortunately, we can only give approximate times for the return journey. This is because the buses are travelling from Holy Island and traffic on the A1 is extremely unpredictable during the summer months.
Departing from Heworth Metro Car Park North
Helpers from the camp will be wearing yellow hi-viz jackets with “SVP Holy Island Camp” written on the back. We are more than happy to help, so please approach one of us if you have any questions or concerns.
Holy Island is a tidal island which can only be accessed between certain hours, so we may need to be strict in our departure time. Please ensure you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure to allow time for your child to be registered and assigned to the correct bus. Each bus will display a list of names, so you will know which one your child should travel on. We will register each child as they board – please ask them to remain on the bus once they have been registered.
Returning to Heworth Metro Car Park North
We know you will be very keen to see your child again as soon as the buses arrive, but we would ask that you bear with us while we follow the necessary procedures as quickly as we possibly can. We need to ensure that each child is collected by the person who you have nominated to pick them up, and we are required to check everyone out individually. This will take a little bit of time, but the safety of the children comes first so we ask that you be patient during this process.
