Our work in Sudan and South Sudan

A country torn apart by over half a century of civil war. 2 million people killed. 4.5 million people displaced. 2.5 million people living in makeshift tents in the desert outside the capital Khartoum. 100,000 orphaned and abandoned children struggling to survive.

Our work in Sudan

In Sudan, 2023 has brought major challenges with new conflict and displacement.  We have supported local SVP conferences and projects in Sudan for decades. Sudan has again this year been subject to further civil conflict that continues to impact on those who are most in need. With an estimated 24.7 million people in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, including 50% (13.6 million) of all children in Sudan, the critical needs are rapidly multiplying.

The SVP do not specialise in humanitarian emergency response and so this year, we have partnered with Concern Worldwide who deliver lifesaving and life changing health and nutrition interventions to some of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people and your past donations have made this possible.

Our work in South Sudan

More people will face displacement, lack of medical care, poverty, bereavement and the threat of homelessness. Our work is more important than ever, to help them recover and rebuild.  By supporting our South Sudan appeal, you will enable us to continue our vital projects including:
