Applications for 2024 Camp are open

Applications for the 2024 Camp are now open. To request an application form, please email our child coordinator Catherine Keedy at catherinek2@svp.org.uk

We only accept referrals for suitable children from SVP members or by an agency such as a school or social services. We do not accept applications for children directly from their parents/guardians. If a parent/guardian deems that their child would benefit from attending the Camp then they must approach an SVP member, a Social Worker or a member of staff at their school. The person must know the child as they are required to assess the child's suitability.

For regular updates, follow us on Twitter (twitter.com/svpleeds).

Further Information
Who runs the Camp?

The Camp is run by a group of approximately 40 volunteers who give their time for free, motivated by the fantastic impact that the Camp has on the children who attend. They work hard throughout the week to make sure that all the children in their care are safe and having a brilliant time. Helpers come from a diverse range of backgrounds and jobs, with teachers, accountants, police officers, builders, pharmacists, surveyors, engineers, nurses and many more. Many helpers even came as children when they were younger!

What aged children can attend?

The camp takes place in August and we accept children from those who are aged 8 at the time of camp, or will turn 8 before 1 September (i.e. from those who have finished year 3 and are about to enter year 4).

We are currently revising the maximum age and for the 2024 camp we will accept children who are 13 years old (i.e. those who have finished year 8 and about to enter year 9). For the 2025 camp the maximum age will be 12 years old (i.e. those who have finished year 7 and about to enter year 8).

Who can refer a child to Camp?

We only accept referrals for suitable children from SVP members or by an agency such as a school or social services. We do not accept applications for children directly from their parents/guardians. If a parent/guardian deems that their child would benefit from attending the Camp then they must approach an SVP member, a Social Worker or a member of staff at their school. The person must know the child as they are required to assess the child's suitability.

Who can attend the camp?

The children's camp runs to support children who would otherwise not receive a holiday. This may be due to family or financial difficulties, or because the child would benefit from some time away from the home environment, for a variety of reasons.
