Fundraising for your chosen charity
  1. Find a charity or project to support.
  2. Look at what they are already doing to see if there is a particular goal you could help them get to. Maybe they are trying to employ another member of staff and need a certain amount of money to be able to do that.
  3. Now start to get the ideas flowing. The wackier the ideas the better. Try to think of things which are as engaging as possible. The classics such as sponsored walk or cake sales are good fall backs but if you can come up with your own ideas it’ll help you get more behind it. Other great things to try are: talent shows; putting on plays; raffles; movie showings and being sponsored to stay silent.
  4. If you are really struggling for ideas ask the charity or project if they can help.
  5. Preparation is the key. Try to choose a day for the event that will allow you plenty of time to prepare and advertise if necessary.
  6. Putting up posters and general advertising will make a huge difference to the success of your event. Make sure everyone knows about your fundraising event and has as many opportunities as possible to give money.
  7. Have the main event! Don’t forget to enjoy yourself.
  8. Now it’s time to reflect, first spiritually and then practically. First look to Christ and ask for his guidance – how has the event affected you spiritually and how have you grown? Then analyse practically, look for points where you can improve for next time.
  9. Repeat the process.
