Camp is open to children of all denominations in school years 5-7 inclusive. The cost of a week at camp is £175 which includes return transport to the pick-up/drop off point, all food and accommodation for the week at camp. To secure your child's place at camp a £50 deposit must be payed within one month of completing this application.
We always keep a small number of funded places available for children who are in particular need and that schools or SVP conferences identify for us.
Throughout the week, the children will take part in a range of activities, such as:
- Treasure hunts
- Table tennis
- Football tournaments
- Friday night concert/talent show
- Discos
- Team building games
- Beach walks
- Sand dunning
- Craft activities
- Silly sports
- Land art
- Rock pooling
- Exploring the local wildlife and great outdoors
All activities are weather dependent and vary week to week depending on volunteers’ skills. Each week will have a range of activities to suit different interests and keep your child occupied every day.
If you or someone you know needs help from the SVP, go to request@svp.org.uk
The real cost of sending a child to Camp is about £225 per child, per week. Costs are rising year on year. We have made the difficult decision to raise the donation to £175 in 2026 which works out at £25 per day and includes transport from Tyneside, all meals and activities. If you are thinking of sending your child in 2026, please consider whether you would be able to donate more to help another child access a holiday too. Payment plans and support are always available for those families who may need some support.
If you are interested in meeting the volunteers before you child attends, we have two opportunities to come along and chat to us and ask any questions you may have.
The meetings will take place at:
St Aloysius Church, Prince Consort Road, Hebburn, NE31 1BE
The dates are:
- April 25th 14:00
- June 13th 14:00
A detailed explanation of our geographical location and the location of the nearest Accident and Emergency Department is given to parents/carers when they apply for their child to come to camp. Parents/carers are required to acknowledge this before proceeding with the application for their child.
We do our best to keep friends and family together. If your child is coming to camp with a friend, you can make a note of this on the online booking form.
Parents/carers are required to declare if their child has a medical condition, takes regular prescribed medication and/or has any allergies and must explain how their child’s condition is managed. We also ask for complete details of all prescribed medications and we need to know if there are any changes to your child’s prescribed medications since filling in their application form and in good advance of them coming to camp.
All parents/carers are asked to state on their child’s application, which non-prescribed medications (stocked at camp) they allow their child to have, if need be, during their stay with us.
Holy Island is a tidal island and is cut off from the mainland by water twice a day for approximately six hours each time. There are no doctors or hospitals on the island. However, should there be a medical emergency a helicopter for the island is available from the Coastguard helicopter based at Prestwick. The flying time to the island varies depending on weather conditions but it’s normal arrival time would be between 35 and 45 mins in good conditions. Ambulance crews can also be taken out to the island by Seahouses Lifeboat and patients can also be transported back to the mainland by the lifeboat Please think carefully about this information if there is a serious medical condition involved in your stay.
