Brixton-based arts charity awarded funding to deliver a year of projects

Brixton building, Talma Road

St Vincent’s Brixton on Talma Road, supported more than 2,000 people last year through a combination of centre run activities and partner workshops.

The charity has now been given specialist funding to deliver a year’s worth of activities across the next three terms of the school year. The first will be printmaking and will start on Friday 24 January and will run for 12-weeks.

The project is called ‘Mindful Moment’s’ and will focus on the wellbeing of participants, tackling isolation and loneliness, and providing a safe space to be mindful.

The projects were made possible thanks to specialist funding from the L&Q Association which offers funds to local groups to help bring the community together.

Whilst the L&Q residents are being encouraged to sign-up, the sessions are open to all older adults who may wish to take part too.

Anyone wanting to know more about the new projects can email Activities Co-ordinator at the centre, Leanne Twidale on LeanneT@svp.org.uk.

The centre in Brixton is part of the wider St Vincent de Paul Society (England and Wales) which aims to tackle poverty in all its forms. St Vincent's Brixton is an arts-oriented centre in the heart of the community, and also offers food provisions accessible arts programmes, alongside community-led programmes too.
