A Brixton-based arts charity is hosting a free Sewing Bee to adults this summer
St Vincent’s Brixton, which is a thriving community hub based on Talma Road, will be running the session for adults throughout August to offer them the opportunity to build new skills over summer.
Running over the course of 3 weeks, the Sewing Bee will take place on the 13th, 20th and 27th of August from 1pm until 5pm. A specialist facilitator will guide the group through a range of sewing skills.
Everyone attending will learn how to mend clothes, make new clothing and embellish ready made clothes alongside learning how to use a sewing machine. The course is free-for-all and refreshments will be provided for all attending.
“This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to learn something new over the summer and it’s a great opportunity to meet new people too,” explains Activities Coordinator and the Centre, Leanne Twidale.
Limited spaces are available for this project, and filling up fast, so those wishing to join are encouraged to book by getting in touch with Leanne by emailing LeanneT@svp.org.uk or by texting 07960445930.
Throughout August, the centre is hosting a range of different workshops which will be available for people of all ages, abilities and skills set. The workshops on offer include Literacy Trust Storytelling Sessions, Drumming for Wellbeing, Hip Hop Dance, Children’s Printmaking and many more, all of which can be found on here: https://svp.org.uk/st-vincents-brixton.
