A first-of-its-kind initiative has been set up by a local charity to help bridge gaps within the community
The St Vincent de Paul Society (England and Wales) has recently announced the formation of ‘St Blaise Rees Way Conference’ which will sit within the charity’s Social Enterprise Project in Bradford.
Currently the project in Bradford provides practical support, training and opportunities for people to learn new skills, build their confidence and get to know others within their local community.
By expanding and announcing the formation of the new initiative, it is hoped that even more people can be supported by the SVP. Currently the aim of the ‘St Blaise Rees Way Conference’ is to offer services to those struggling in the local community. This can be with anything from befriending, handing out school uniform vouchers, giving food parcels to those who need it, and any other problems locally isolated individuals and families are facing.
An open evening is taking place at the centre on Rees Way on Tuesday the 11th June between 5pm – 7pm to give people the opportunity to see the work being done and an opportunity to ask any questions.
St Blaise Rees Way Conference Secretary, Bethany Moreland, who has helped organise the event is encouraging anyone and everyone to join to see what the Conference does:
“Currently we have 10 members which is made up of staff, volunteers and members from other Conferences in the area. This event is a great opportunity to come along and see what we do and how we help those in the local community who need us the most.
“There’s no obligation to sign-up to be a volunteer, we just want to get the word out there about the incredible work we do and how we can help as many people as possible.”
During the open event, there will be an opportunity to have a tour of the building, demonstrations on how to use the digital workstations, buy SVP merchandise, learn about our free will writing service and so much more.
