A Brixton-based community charity hosts craft fair and vintage pop-up to help those in the local community

Thriving local arts hub, St Vincent’s Brixton, will be hosting its first ever craft fair and vintage pop-up shop to raise vital funds to ensure the centre can keep its doors open for those who need support. 

Based on Talma Road, the centre is a vibrant community space which welcomes people of all ages, religions and ethnicities. It offers a variety of support to those in need such as befriending, food parcels and practical assistance, whilst maintaining a focus on accessible arts and learning through creativity. 

This first-of-its-kind event will take place on Saturday 30 November from 1-6pm and locals are urged to visit the centre to see what they have to offer.

Jane Duncan Ribero, Centre Officer said: “We will have a Vintage Pop-up shop with clothes, footwear and handbags for people to peruse and see if there is something they like.

“We have invited local crafters, makers and businesses to get involved.  It’s an opportunity for them to sell their products to a local audience. We will also have crafting activities for children and of course cakes for all.

“This is an event for local people to meet local makers and is also a fundraiser for the centre to support our projects for children, young people, families and older adults. 

“Our projects are focused on building confidence, alleviating isolation, providing a warm space, plus skills and support for all during the Cost-of-Living Crisis and beyond. Please do join us on the day or if you would like to donate to support our work, please contact FaithM@svp.org.uk.”

St Vincent’s Brixton is part of the wider St Vincent de Paul Society (England and Wales) which is part of a grassroots charity that aims to alleviate poverty in all its forms through befriending and kindness.
