Year of Jubilee - Pilgrims of Hope

SVP X jubilee logo

Join the SVP as together we mark the year of Jubilee, coming together and being Pilgrims of Hope.

Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, announced that 2025 would be a Jubilee year, something that happens once every 25-years.

You can learn more about the Jubilee here

This year's theme, Pilgrims of Hope, is served as a reminder to be a door of hope to those suffering, struggling and needing guidance.

A calendar of major events has been created to help those who want to celebrate focus on key events throughout the year:

Join us for a Vincentian Family Gathering and Mass as we come together to be Pilgrims of Hope during a day filled with faith, community and inspiration...

2025 Lent & Beyond Campaign

This Year of Jubilee is a time of reflection, renewal, and generosity. By donating to the SVP Lent and Easter Appeal, you're not only supporting those in need but also embracing the spirit of compassion that defines this sacred year.

Your gift will echo the message of mercy and love that the Year of Jubilee invites us to live.

Jubilee of Migrants: Our work with Asylum Seekers & Refugees

The SVP believes we should do everything we can to welcome asylum seekers and refugees and integrate them into society.

From our member's offering befriending in their local community, to holding ESOL classes at our Community Support Projects and more. We make sure that those coming to England and Wales to seek asylum and refuge are treated with dignity and respect.

Take a look at some of the stories in the link above to learn more about what we do to help those in need.

Take action - let's help end refugee homelessness

Recently the Government extended the amount of time people have to find accommodation to 56 days after receiving refugee status, however this extension will end in June 2025.

We have created a range of resources which are available for everyone to use to take action now to show the Government how important and valuable it would be to make the extension permanent.

Youth Lenten Campaign - Being a Pilgrim of Hope

The SVP wants to journey with young people throughout the Jubilee Year. In the autumn, we provided Pilgrim Packs for all schools to engage this 2025. We hope that our resources will provide opportunities for students to reflect on the needs of their community, consider a merciful Christ-like response, and bring hope through the actions they can take.

Hope has no Borders: advocating dignity and rights for Migrants and Asylum seekers

We work in partnership with other organisations to advocate for the rights of asylum seekers and refugees.

This may include helping individuals navigate the complex asylum process or referring them to legal services for expert advice. We also champion the rights of migrants through dialogue with Government.

Commitment through Community Support Projects in England and Wales

Our Community Support Projects (CSPs) sit in deprived communities across England and Wales. These projects aim to help individuals rebuild their lives by offering practical assistance and fostering social inclusion.

We have:

  • ESOL classes in Newcastle, Leeds, Ely, Brixton & Wirral
  • Immigration support in Leeds & Bradford
  • Specialist volunteering opportunities in Newcastle
  • Dedicate activities for asylum seekers & refugees living in hotels in Leeds
