St Vincent de Paul Society (England and Wales) announces Georgina, Duchess of Norfolk as new Patron.
National Anti-poverty charity, the St Vincent de Paul Society (England & Wales) today announced Georgina, Duchess of Norfolk, as a Patron of the charity, lending her support to its mission of tackling poverty and providing practical assistance to those in need across England and Wales.
Georgina, Duchess of Norfolk, who has been a long-time active member of the charity in Arundel, also recently hosted a fundraising evening at Arundel Castle in support of the SVP. Commenting on the announcement, Georgina said,
“I am honoured to become a Patron of the SVP, a charity I’ve long admired and supported. The Society’s dedication to supporting those who are vulnerable or facing hardship is truly inspiring, and I am proud to help champion its vital mission.”
The Society’s CEO, Kate Nightingale, said,
“We are thrilled and deeply grateful that Georgina, the Duchess of Norfolk, has agreed to become a Patron of the SVP. Their support will be invaluable in raising awareness of our work and encouraging others to join us in making a positive difference in the lives of so many.”
Commenting on the economic climate facing the sector, Kate continued,
“The charity sector is under significant strain. Costs have risen across every area of our work, while demand for our services is higher than ever. Having Georgina’s support as a Patron will help raise awareness of our mission and, in turn, enable us to reach even more people in need.”
The St Vincent de Paul Society is a front-line grass roots charity, dedicated to helping individuals and families facing poverty, homelessness, and other hardship. It celebrated its 180th anniversary in England and Wales last year. The charity has continued to see the number of requests for help increase and last year its near 9,000 strong membership helped over 330,000 people in need, including supporting families struggling to make ends meet, rough sleepers and isolated older people.
