Community arts charity set to host Christmas Fair to raise vital funds to help keep their doors open
St Vincent’s Brixton is hosting a community Christmas Fair on Saturday 14th December from 1pm until 7pm, to raise vital funds to help support their free arts, crafts and food provision activities next year.
The centre, which is housed in a Victorian hall in Talma Road, will be throwing their doors open to provide some festive cheer with fun activities for everyone.
Children can take part in gingerbread and Christmas bauble decorating. There will also be a free Santa with a gift for every child that visits his North Pole Brixton Grotto .
Upstairs there will be stalls by local crafts people providing the perfect opportunity to do some last-minute Christmas shopping. Mulled wine, mince pies, cakes and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments will be available to buy.
Locally based singer, Lara Lee aka FLOetic, a poet, singer, and songwriter, who has performed with soul artist Dwele and Erykah Badu, as well as made appearances on BBC Radio and Television and Channel 4, will be leading an interactive singing and carolling session. St Vincent’s Brixton has supported more than 2,000 people over the last year either through centre-run activities, or via our partners who use the centre to run their own workshops. All money raised will go towards our Doors of Hope Christmas Appeal. This Christmas, too many people will continue to face hardship and uncertainty. The rise in living costs has left more people facing extreme financial difficulties and the cost of delivering our services is continuing to rise.
The centre is part of The St Vincent de Paul Society (England & Wales), an international Christian voluntary network dedicated to tackling poverty in all its forms. They help anyone experiencing poverty at home or overseas before, during or after a crisis. Last year the SVP provided 80,000 meals through their 11 St Vincent’s regional Community Centres located in areas of need.
