St Vincent’s Counselling, which is based in East Leeds, is now accepting self-referrals to help those navigating mental health challenges get the help and support they need.
Based at St Vincent’s Centre, Leeds, the counselling service was only accessible through specialist partner organisations who would refer individuals to the service, but recent changes have meant people can get in touch with St Vincent’s Counselling directly to help get support they need.
By offering structured, short-term counselling in a safe and community-based setting completely free of charge, it is hoped that as many people as possible can get the help and support needed for mild to moderate mental health and emotional challenges.
Through one-to-one sessions and potential group activities, the service supports those attending by exploring anxiety, low mood, stress and other life challenges.
Stewart Barlow, Counselling Service Manager, explains how this is a lifeline for many.
“By opening up our services to self-referrals, we now have an opportunity to help more people directly and give them the opportunity to come to us directly for support.
“I would highly encourage anyone who needs our counselling service to reach out for more information, or if certain, then fill in our self-referral through our website.”
